Well, I don't know much about Joanne whatsherface, but Hillary Williams generally seems to know her shit. What would you change about her (somewhat watered down) tutorial?

I'm just talking trash. Hillary is a fantastic grappler. I don't think her intention in that clip was to teach the flower sweep, so much as it was to show it to an uninitiated audience. Any more detail than that would have been lost on the people that clip was intended for. I'm 100% positive she could break that position down and teach it well.

Hmmmmmm I was actually talking about a straight up armbar+toss, without hooking the leg, which has the option to transition to mount if you can't secure the spiderweb/armbar, from a pretty basic set up. Also, I thought you meant that you had to have the posture fully broken; about halfway broken seems to be fairly doable, at least in my brief bit of experience.

You girls at West La are who inspired me to try to get this into my game, Jee. You all seem to love armbars more than I do, and I really love armbars. Just suck at getting them from guard.

Perfect example of what I mean is at the 1:20 mark

Here's the deal for me. The flower sweep is money. But if you can cut the angle to land it, you could of probably cleared the head and secured a deep hook. From here you can toss o sider web. This is essentially the same principle, but allows you to bypass mount straight to spider web.

If they're falling over without you having their posture or hooking a leg, they need more base.

Aw, thanks Ross! I'm not much of an armbar girl myself but Kristen (she's the one at 1:20) has that shit down. I think her main thing is making sure that the leg across the face is securely clamped down and that it's the legs and hips doing the majority of the sweeping work. If you do it right, you can slam them right to the ground with dem legs.
