It's really lame. I can't compete at this upcoming grapplers quest, but with these whack rules, I don't want to compete at Gracies now.

If you have the physical ability, time and money, why let the silly rules stop you?

If you think that's bad, check out the rules for the kids. We were planning on attending the Gracies Regional West, but soon changed our mind after reading their kids rule. 1) ALL kids will get an award for attending. (That's not the way I want to raise my child. You don't win, you get no medals. Its only fair, so train harder.) 2) NO coaching allowed. (its a kids tournament, its a learning experience.) 3) If you have to cheer, you better make it generic and not to any one particular kid. You have to cheer for both kids. (WTF is that all about?? cheer for both kids? really??) I tried to find out how their previous year was like by looking at the results for the kids, but they have no result for the kids posted anywhere. Well with all that being said, I'm going to save myself the drive up there. We'll just stick to Kids World instead.

On a side note, one of the organisers of a (i.e. the ONLY) local BJJ/grappling tournament in my country is a huge Eddie Bravo fan, and the rule for the nogi day of the competition was -> No can openers or related spine/neck submissions allowed. BUT, the Twister is good (they explained it away "because it's a side crank").

Weird logic, but heck... Works for me!

I continue to toil with the E-chair sweep potential for DQ, picturing coaches of opposition just waiting for the opportunity to present itself. Sure you can say you won't fully extend, but is attempting the pass advantage play given the environment. Think I'm over thinking this, but there's a decent shot the adrenaline will kick in and all this will fly out window after my 1st bump. Desire to do well for my instructor, rep my club properly. Electric-phobia, one of things I'm going over in my internal dialogue.
