hello 10th planet guys and girls I have a little story I'd like to share I hope you have the patients to read it through, it is a bit nice! started way back 98 or 99 I had just got out of the military and going crazy with the new found freedom some of my buddies where training jiu jitsu with this dude in southern cali and told me to come on down to train and party, now I was fresh out of the army and anyone who knows army cats know we cant turn down a chance to party and meet the fairer sex!! I had seen UFC 1 and I wasn't so impressed with it, the idea of me being between a mans legs or vice versa horrified me! I stayed for 2yrs trained a couple of days a week but was not smitten by bjj...few years later I was back in the military and bjj and mma was starting to take roots in the army. i did a little training while still in U.S and when I was deployed there were a group of guys that got together as much as possible to train bjj and mma, we didn't have gis so of course everything was no gi...that's when I started to fall in love with jiu jitsu unfortunately I had a meeting with an IUD that got me sent home...sitting at home getting fat started to get to me so i find a local bjj school which is gracie of course and gi and no gi is practiced regularly, which wasn't the norm in the late 90s. point of my story 3 plus years here my game is mediocre at best so I try various youtube videos to supplement my training it works sometimes on lower belts but on the advanced guys im still getting smashed . One day I see eddies book on my shelf research it a bit look at a few youtube videos and guess what lockdown works electric chair works. I buy the second book and really have a hard time understanding it...then I see eddies fight with royler and it all falls into place! I see the use of the 1/4 guard electric chair! most amazing display of jiu jitsu I have ever seen I buy the 3rd book and the 1/4 guard techniques in there just throw my game to the next level! not that im submitting everyone but guys that where smashing me (blue, purple, and brown belts) are now having a lot of problems with me now again im not submitting everyone but they are having a hell of a time submitting me. my half guard game has become a force to reckon with in just 2 months of research and practice so much the head instructor has me roll with his top students and says "check this guys half guard out hes getting really good at it" now I open these books and they make so much sense to me. there are things I wont be able to do cuz of my injuries but im a believer in eddies 1/2 guard game Thanks Eddie
