Firstly, your lockdown needs to be tighter, mine can be so tight that it's really uncomfortable for both of us but more for my opponent, secondly, you should always be threatening with something when they move a muscle, I threaten whip ups and whip downs to destabilize them. No one generally proceeds when they sense they'll easily lose base. Also my hands are constantly moving to create space or scramble, or jaws of life or just about anything. Disturbing their flow basically is my aim.
