Looking at gyms around the area, there are few places that look like they could offer legitimate instruction, even fewer that offer a reasonable amount of no-gi mat time, and absolutely none fitting that bill that are anywhere near affordable for me right now. My last resort would be to put the robe back on and grit it out at one of the mediocre traditional schools, but I would much rather reach out to anyone who would be interested in drilling and rolling in a home gym with resources like MTS.
I've got about 100 sq ft of puzzle mats to throw down in the garage. It's nothing fancy, but I keep it very clean, and it should serve as a safe enough environment for drilling and rolling at a moderate pace. A few friends from work have been into it off and on, but I'd like to find some partners who are committed to practicing more regularly and don't mind spending a good while on fundamentals, sharpening just a few techniques at a time and making sure we get them right, rather than playing with something different every day out of boredom, as many who have lost interest would have preferred. I'm no teacher, and this ain't no school, but I would prefer to have some structure to it for the sake of ensuring progress is made with the work that's put in.
I'm currently in North Little Rock, and will be moving to Conway within the next year or so, but I invite anyone in the area who shares an interest in 10PJJ or No Gi Grappling to come work out and keep my rusty ass on the mat!
