I study Judo and my kids wrestle and do Judo sometimes as well. The stuff Eddie said about no-gi resonated with me and it occurred to me to wonder, could the same thing that Eddie did to BJJ be done to Judo? Focusing on throws that work no-gi and other techniques? Curious if anyone has ever tried it.

There is an organization by the name of freestyle judo alliance (http://www.freestylejudo.org/) and they say that they do both Gi and NOGI events and a different rule-set than the IJF.

    Zogs amazing.

I think a huge part of 10p stand up grappling is being able successfully clench or shoot, then pull a deep offensive guard and be able to attack immediately. That and dynamic guard pulling. This would def be added to all effective nogi throws and takedowns. I def prefer this to butt scooting.

10p is any grappling tech that works nogi. There are sooo many.

I train at Aberdeen Judo in Kamloops BC. I have found that using 10th Planet gives you a huge edge in the grappling part. A lot of schools up here in BC, they train a lot of stand up. Once you hit the ground you can throw on the lockdown and your opponent will just give it to you because they have no clue what your doing. As long as you keep moving the refs usual will let you keep rolling but as soon as there's no action, the refs will stand you back up. Got to keep flowing

Check out this awesome Russian wrestling highlight:

Most of their wrestlers, judoka, and sambo players train in the same facilities, and you can see a good bit of technique exchange across the arts. Judo style throws no-gi, and before the recent rule changes, wrestling style leg grabs in judo:

The one thing about wrestling and judo is that they do not cover how to close the distance when strikes are involved. If one of the points of 10th Planet was to make jiu jitsu (especially the guard) better suited to MMA, wrestling and judo would need to address this more thoroughly.

American Folkstyle wrestling is good at using stance and motion to set up shots from the outside, as well as hand snaps and posts. Freestyle is a bit more developed when it comes to tie ups. Getting there is the issue. Pretty hard to do without adding at least some rudimentary striking as set ups.
