Started 10th planet under Coach Herzog.

Sadly, since leaving Rochester, my training has fallen off so bad due to my refusal to wear the gi, limited no gi classes IN THE WHOLE DAMN STATE OF MASS, and work schedule conflicts.

I'm 10thP4L no matter what. I still train with my Empire shirt everywhere I train. But the rust build up is a bitch. Takes me 2 weeks to break the rust, but then I'm off for another 2 weeks due to work schedule conflicts. So I'm finally biting the bullet and taking gi classes JUST to get some training in.

Basically I'm a hypocrite because I preach any mat time is better than no mat time, but whenever I look at gi prices, I scoff, get annoyed, then procrastinate. I don't hate the gi. I just hate the gi for me.

Sounds like you need the gi more than the gi needs you.

I'm most likely going to end up somewhere in MA eventually and am not excited about the training options. It will either be Norwood or Worcester areas, or possibly Hartford, CT. We need some more east coast affiliates!

I'm originally from the Worcester, MA area. Before I joined 10th Planet SF after moving to the Bay area, I started my bjj training in MA at Team Link Worcester, which is run by Gabriel Gonzaga. they're predominantly a gi school and have a lot of high level, serious guys that train there. they used to only do no-gi on fridays, but with gonzaga making a comeback in the UFC this past year, maybe they're incorporating more no-gi to their schedule. if you end up in worcester, Team Link is definitely worth checking out.
If you're in the norwood area, theres gracie barra in newton run by roberto maia, and i think joe lauzon has an academy not too far from there either.

either way, there definitely needs to be a 10th planet boston!

I've always been into martial arts, and jiu jitsu in particular. But, we never had any legit places to train in my area, and driving to Eugene, Portland or San Fran is quite the journey if you're really trying to progress in this sport. So, I was incredibly happy when the moon opened up in Grants Pass; I spent my very first day of training there and don't ever plan on ever leaving the 10P system.

I have been doing judo since is was 5 so 19 year

I went to an mma class and did my first bit of no gi and loved it after that I joined a carlson gracie bjj in kent but they didnt run a no gi class so I went to another mma club after a sit down with the coach I suggested we invest in 10p books now we only roll 10p I coach people I have the most history in grappling but we make the pilgrimage to 10p london as much as we can

now I am 10p4l

Started almost 20 years ago at Rickson's first school before life took me away from jiu jitsu. Even back then I hemember thinking "unless I'm fighting a guy in a suit jacket, how is this gonna work?". So being fortunate enough to be close to a strictly no-gi school is awesome. 10th Planet Springfield, Mike DeWitt and Brent Smith are now forced to claim me.

The transition was interesting. I forgot so much that it was almost like I was a complete noob and have essentially started over. I still get caught grabbing rash guards or shorts, though I'm breaking the habit.

I Started in 2011, went to this MMA gym in grants pass and wanted to do MMA. When i walked in the only class they had going was Jiu Jitsu so i said fuck it lets start here. The instructor was a beast, and i remember seeing him flying triangling fools at this small promotion called brass knuxs. After getting my ass kicked for 1 1/2 hrs i decided Fuck MMA im just going to do this. I started going to this class regularly before i moved and all i could remember was the instructors name, Nathan Orchard, and the old school 10 P Rashie. i moved to Portland for awhile and lerked on the fourm and studied MTS and Mastering the rubber guard, ddrilling with my buddy in my living room. I moved back to GP and met back up with Orchard and followed him around learning the system until he moved to Portland. Once he left i didnt want to stop training, and i wanted to dedicate my life to the system and open a moon. So i traveled to SF to train with Denny, we talked about what i wanted to do in JJ and he told me about Hotboxs and such. After that trip i spent all of my time working on getting approved for a hotbox and reaching my goal of owning a moon. Long Story short i put in work got approved and i am grinding everyday trying to make 10P GP the best moon out there. I Owe everything to Denny Prokopos, Nathan Orchard and Eddie Bravo and i am proud to say i Started with 10th Planet.
