wearing 10p in competition as a non 10p

So Grappling Industues Montreal is this Saturday (August 30th)and I was thinking about wearing my biomech 10p rashguard. Then I gave it some more thought and realized how would I feel if my student`wears a different schools logo on their rashguard... so unfortunately I wont be wearing it. But I was thinking about putting the 10p tights on. The logo is supper small and if I wear my shorts u don`t even see it, unless im on my back with my legs up.

So I just wanted to know what u guys think and if someone here has already done or thought of doing something like this before.

I'm going through the same thing. I'm pretty loyal to Elite, but I want to represent both sides of my heritage.

I think tights in nogi and a small patch in gi is where I will leave it.

Cora has always been wearing 10thplanet rashguard at many tournaments. Also we put 10thplanet patches on her GI pants just like Master Eddie. We currently have a few patches that we will put on both her tournament Gi. Why we do this? Well its just feels right and its part of having fun for her. Now keep in mind she does have patches of her gym logo as well on her Gi, best of both world kind of thing. Lucky we have a super cool instructor that is ego free and happen to love 10thplanet as much as we do. There are still plenty of real estate for more sponsors patches....(hint hint)...

Our team is basically a whole team of ronin. We do tenth planet stuff all the time. I think all of us instructors have flashed the gang sign on the podium. One of my fellow instructors competes in 10th Planet shorts. I usually wear my 10th Planet Hoodie at tournaments. We would be happy if our students wanted to wear 10th Planet stuff at competitions.

But, I can definitely see how other coaches might raise hell about it.

We've been wearing tenth planet stuff for years. But, for most of that period, 10th Planet wasn't very widespread and we felt like we were sort of helping to spread awareness of 10th Planet and combat the haters. Now that there are so many 10th Planet schools it's kind of changing. I am sort of expecting that one day, a 10th Planet white belt is going to come up to me and tell me I shouldn't be wearing my 10th Planet hoodie which I will have owned for years prior to them ever even stepping on the mats. hahahaha

the thing is that tristar quebec seems to be more for gi training for mma. some people especially the younger ones seem to be for 10p and some (or one) not so much. I dont want to give any names but it seems like this person thinks that Eddie started naming techniques like he invented them. One time I said oh yeah, like 10th planet does and he gave me a look like no. And then the second time i said something like that I said ``like 10th planet`.. but its all jiu jitsu` and he said ``yes`` lol, i just wanted to show him that I`m not an idiot, i know eddie didnt invent the lockdown or the swim move.

I wear 10p patch and rash guard when rolling mostly folks expect the rubber guard or twister... seems all the grappling styles always share moves and positions.... but all naga or something id be nervous about wearing 10p stuff around the schools group

if you feel bad about it then don't if not do as you please out of respect i'll tell them i'm wearing another school shirt for X reason unless your club has set rules for comp clothing or uniform set in place

I think it would be strange and perhaps even disrespectful if you train 100% at a gym but when competing decide to rep a club you're not really even part of.

Different situation if you don't belong to any school or are not part of any club, etc, and class yourself as a Ronin but if I had a club, lets say Taylor Jiu Jitsu and one of my students decided to wear a 10th Planet rashguard and not a Taylor Jiu Jitsu one I would be disappointed. Whether you have read Eddie's books, watched Zog's videos and posted on the Nibiru, it would still be me that has taught you Jiu Jitsu

If you train under an actual club and have never actually trained at a 10th Planet club, or under a 10P Instructor for some period of time, it seems kinda disrespectful to me.

I train at a Marcelo Garcia affiliate. All of the guys are 100% loyal to Marcelo. However, they know how loyal I am to 10P; I always wear my 10P rash guards and my whole game is based around 10P techniques. They even have no issue with me competing in my 10P stuff. The only things they've ever asked of me are to give credit and props to our gym and learn their game that they're teaching me. So I can be completely decked out in 10P stuff, use only 10P techniques, and flash the gang sign all I want in competition; all I have to do is say that my gym is "Underground Jiu Jitsu" when rregistering. Some comps actually ask what gym you train at and what team you're on, so I usually say I train at Underground but my team is 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu.

Probably doesn't help you too much, but I figured I'd share my experience and let you know that there are a lot of great, open minded jiu jitsu schools out there.
