Starting my quest for the Hotbox

So, I'd like to use this upcoming tournament (and future ones) to get the 10 wins necessary to do a Hotbox. It'll take a while, seeing that at brown we get 1 (or 2 max) matches per tournament, plus there are more gi tourneys here than no-gi.

I am starting a BJJ club at my university (I'm a prof there), which would allow me to have space, a body of eager grapplers, and no-cost to them without me going broke, I figure this would be pretty cool to do.

So, quick question: are Hotboxes allowed in universities? Technically, we would be called the Fairfield University 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Hotbox. (Fairfield has to come first under uni rules.)

Second, embarrassing question, what exactly are you all doing with your fingers to throw out the 10th P sign? (I don't have a rash guard yet for this weekend and I'm an "auditory/textual" learner primarily, rather than visual).

I ran a hot box out of st joes university for awhile before I had to move. According to the school paperwork it was st Joes grappling club. Everywhere else it was 10p Philly hot box. Though in my case the club already existed and I just took it over.

I'm working on the same idea at WPI in Worcester when I get there next week. I'm an alumnus and wrestled there so I'm thinking that we could be successful at getting a good group together. We could even do some university cross training in the future.

Yes, I figured this would be the case for ours, too. Just the "technical" name with the University has to have the schools name first for uniformity. After that, I'm sure it could be 10th Planet Connecticut Hotbox or whatever. Thanks!

I am pretty sure Barncat ran his Hotbox out of his university for a couple of years till he got his own Moon.

Herzog is in charge of all the hotboxes. Study up on that guideline, and let him know you wanna be a hotbox candidate.

Be a cool guy and love Jiu jitsu and you'll love working with Zog. He's the best.
