Would it make sense to go for the go go clinch from rubber guard as a go to move from new york. Example New York --> Meat hook ---> go go clinch

Definitely possible, but you'll find that landing the gogo clinch from Jersey is easier because you already have the angle. Working it from closed guard requires some flexibility and a bit of trickery to prevent the guy on top from squaring you up.

Hindu Control could be your thing with that closed guard Meathook. If not, just keep moving up the totem pole with that New York.
