why no tenth planet dojo's on the east coast?

I love it when people say there are no 10th Planet Schools on the East Coast. Yes there are. Next response is usually, yeah but its a far drive. As far as Rochester to LA? As far as Bethlehem to LA? Because thats what we had to do, if you want it, make it happen. Don't talk about, or make excuses about why you can't do it. Make it happen. I train eddie and my Sambo coach, who lives in Russia....yet I still train with them often. They main issues is we have made willing sacrifices to make it happen and bring 10p to the east coast, Others have not. If you want to train 10p on east coast, do what the rest of us did, we wanted 10p bad enough we went to where 10th planet was, don't expect it to come to you.

I've sacrificed time, money, and precious gas to drive to Alabama three times so far this year, and am going back in a couple weeks for Eddie's seminar. If you want it bad enough, you'll chase it wherever it is. And then one day you can start a hot box, and if you have real ambition YOU can bring 10th Planet to your town.

I was thinking about seeing if I could try to take a Private lesson over in Rochester, seeing as how thats the closest one to me (Im in MA). I don't think anybody means drive 10 hours every night to train. I just moved to MA and plan on getting to Rochester and Bethlehem on a regular basis because I can't live without 10th planet in my life. Even when I lived in AZ and trained at 10th Planet Phoenix, I visited CA often to train with Eddie and the others.

Im not asking this as a disrespect (I am legitimately curios), but how long did it take you to get your black belt in the 10th planet system driving from Rochester to LA to train. I was thinking about seeing if I could try to take a Private lesson over in Rochester, seeing as how thats the closest one to me (Im in MA). But I couldn't do that every day, its almost a 5 hour drive from where I am to rochester. unfortunately most people with jobs and families, cant be driving 10 hours a day to train.

No offense taken. It wasn't literal driving, I flew I came into the system as a purple in 2007. Received my brown in 2009 from Eddie then to black this past June. So about 7 years. In that time i've been to approx 30 of eddies seminars and to HQ. Its take work and sacrifice, i willing gave up lifes extras to put away money and time to get there , and I did so on a case manger/social worker's salary.

If you want it bad enough you'll drive to the nearest school to train from time to time. I'm in SC and I'm about to make my 3rd trip to Alabama this year. Trying to grow 10p presence here in SC, but it takes time. Hopefully we'll have a hot box here soon

The gym I teach at is not 10th Planet, but anyone is welcome to visit when you are in DC if you need mats or a training partner. We do lots of no-gi and are open to all people and styles.

*edit to say that if you are making a trip on the east coast for 10th planet, obviously you should head to Bethlehem or Rochester or if you are traveling from the east coast you should go to HQ or another moon. Not trying to steal their thunder, but if you are in the DC area permanently or visiting you have a friendly mat at my place. Obviously that offer extends to the folks in Rochester and Bethlehem too if you ever feel like visiting the nation's capital.

We drove and flew to HQ from Houston, Tx so that my daughter can train with her idol. Also attended 2 of master eddie's seminars all across TX, and TX is a huge state. Like Coach Zog said, you want it bad enough, you will find away. BUT if all else fail and you arent able to travel, the MTS and warm ups are the next best thing. You got to play the hand that is dealt for you. Make it work, being a 10thplanet ronin is still better than nothing. We been doing ok. If there isnt a 10thplanet gym in your area, maybe its waiting for you to create one.
