When I wrote my prediction, I picked Jones just because he has more tools in his toolbox. That really tends to be the deciding factor when you look at it. Jones is probably the most complete mixed martial artist in MMA.
Cormier just had no answer for the problems that Jones was giving him. Cormier was training to come in off the leg kicks. But Jones offered no leg kicks. He was going to the body all night with mostly straight kicks. Jackson/Wink is still the best game planning team in MMA. No doubt about it. No one in Cormier's corner had any advice between rounds.
Yeah, it's on one of the last two UFC embedded episodes you can see Greg Jackson and Jon Jones watching the previous episode where DC is training at the TUF gym and DCs coach says something about "coming off the kick". Jackson kind of perked up and Jones picked up on it right away.
It'd be interesting to see how the fight might've played out if they hadn't got that piece of information. Not saying it'd be the deciding factor.
Jackson is fascinating to watch and listen to. Especially when he's cornering and when Tate interviewed him on his podcast.
