Triangle Finish on Wide Shouldered Opponent

Anyone have a tip/technique/tactic on how to finish triangles on opponents with wide body frames? I was rolling with a 210+ pound guy very lightly, got the triangle, but had a very very hard time getting the leg over the ankle of the leg that was going over the back of his neck because he was simply large as hell. I'm currently 173 pounds and 5' 9".

Your torso is no-mans land. Don't allow his hands inside the center zone. Always win the center. If he wins the center, he can possibly stack you or trap your hip and regain his posture. Work on slowly breaking the posture and gaining inches on how high your legs get tied up on him. Pull his head to give you a moment where you can re-configure your legs and prevent him from regaining what he lost. If you feel too stacked, walk back on your shoulders/neck/elbows to get some breathing room.

The way I remember it is if you're triangleing a guy but his trapped arm is on the opposite side of your torso that you'd want it and he is hugging your hip. Straighten out your legs while keeping them closed and do an S-grip behind your knees, then pinch your knees together like all holy hell. Nasty, practically unbearable nerve pain. It should be easy to transition to the omoplata from this position

This way has always worked best for me.

The idea is to not burn your legs out by squeezing the less strong adductor muscles in your legs, so instead you create an angle and use your stronger muscles like your hamstring and quad to close their arteries. It's incredibly powerful, not energy intensive, and lot of the best triangle chokers do this. Jeff Glover has a saying to help people remember it. "It's called a tri-angle not a tri-in-front-of-the-guy."

Jeff Glover has a saying to help people remember it. "It's called a tri-angle not a tri-in-front-of-the-guy.

I saw his vid where he dropped that gem of a phrase for triangle positioning. I never forgot it since.

There should be a move made called "tri-in-front-of-the-guy" =D. Maybe the no arm triangle where you use your fist in the legs against the neck?

I have short legs. I always have to cut the angle super sharp and try to get the shoulder out as well. I'm 5 ' 3" and 130lbs and I can do that to 230lb men, so for me the angle is key. Staying tight while you lock it up and also pushing off their hip to help you to get the angle right is good too.
