Metro Atlanta, Georgia - The Kakuto Submission Challenge returns to Metro Atlanta for the fifth time in history on March 21, 2015. “Kakuto 5: Respect” is taking place at Kennesaw Mountain High School from 8:00 am-7:00 pm.
The Kakuto Submission Challenge is the largest, fastest growing event of its kind and will feature Amateur and Professional Submission Grapplers from all over the world as they gather to put their Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, C.A.M.B.O./Sambo, Judo, and Catch Wrestling submission skills to the test. The competition includes Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced/Expert divisions for Ladies-Only, Co-ed Adult, and Co-ed Teens (ages 13+), as well as a Pro-Am Invitational to start the event off.
Amateurs who compete in the Absolute division will have an opportunity to win cash prizes and custom medals. The 6-person Pro-Am Invitational will feature Heavy Weights Tex Johnson (current champ, Team Lepri/Alliance), Kaliffa Oliveira (Gracie Barra Alabama), Stephen Eakin (Rush MMA/American Top Team), Chris Sutton (Carroll Bros. BJJ), Kelly Anundson (American Top Team Coconut Creek, FL), and Chase Horton (Cobra BJJ) and they’ll be battling it out under our exclusive modified round robin format for the Championship Cup and up to $1000.00 cash.
Athletes in the Open Tournament can compete in Gi, Gi-optional (no-gi), and Absolute (open weight class). The winner is declared ONLY in the event of a submission rather than by scoring points which making this competition unique and very exciting.
Several vendors will be onsite including clothing, mouth guards, and food, all available for purchase.
In addition to the tournament, Kakuto is hosting a seminar by 8th Degree “Coral” Belt Master Rigan Machado on March 22nd. Master Machado is a living legend of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu community and one of the highest ranked Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners with a most impressive record of 8 world championship titles in addition to 365 wins in BJJ competition; having once gone 13 consecutive years undefeated.
