Women doing 10th Planet!

Ya honestly- this "stuff" ain't funny or complementary esp in a sport where women are in a minority, close contact and most every man out their could hurt them. They are already intimidated and then if any comment is made about their sexuality that means that is what the dude is thinking about and that is one of the fears. Yea we have a good group of guys too. Always will be some people who think its awkward to roll with you. ESP/mainly visitors. Lol. The best thing to do is work hard to stay up with the group. That's what I try to do. Just wish there were more women that were down, like not just ones that did it and liked it..like really down, who take it seriously & it means something to them. :-/

On that happy note- how many of you are going to The Gracie Nat'l in Jan? Any other big comps? What about the Dec. Worlds SJJIF? And as the number of females increase in the system maybe we should try to organize some kind of 10th Planet Woman's get together? Keep it up ladies!

I can't make any of those comps but I will be in the LA area December 26 thru January 4 to train.

My hubby and I will be coming out for Gracie Worlds in July 2014. Yea that would be kind of cool. Sometimes there are girls open mats around here, but I've never gone. Just don't want my competition figuring out my game I suppose and I get great rolls with the guys at the gym, but that sounds really awesome if it was all 10P ladies from all over.

I want to do either Worlds or Nationals but the brackets for woman are sooo bad. I was going to do Worlds last July but she took out the women all together, then put them back in too late for me to make it. I am just so suprised there aren't more women competing in California. Seems odd.

and Kim, I never made it to Burbank when I was in SoCal in July but I am coming back down in a few weeks, for a few weeks. I am going to try my best to get over there. I will be down for work so my schedule may be tricky and may have to play it day-by-day.

I'm excited to hopefully meet some of you soon! I will be at HQ December 27 and 30, West LA for the day class on December 30 and hopefully night class on January 1 (Einstein told me he would have class if people were interested, so tell him you want it!) and Burbank on January 4. I want to roll with as many 10th planet females possible since I never get the opportunity to do so.

Hey all! I saw the ladies' thread and thought I'd pop on and introduce myself. I'm Carmen and I'm a white belt training under Brandon McCaghren in Decatur, AL. I've been training since June and have been striking (Dutch-style Muay Thai) for about a year. I'm a personal trainer, yoga teacher, and professional ballroom dancer -which is to say that sitting still is not my strong suit.

Welcome Carmen!! There is only a handful of us females around but we ARE here!! I have never trained with Brandon, but I hear he is an amazing guy. I almost made it down your way earlier this month but my work trip got moved to SoCal instead. No doubt I will make it down there on of these days.
