Any Glasgow folk in attendance? Looking for travel tips

Greetings Scotsmen.

I was hoping for some advice - I want to travel Scotland after semester ends, and figured I'd use Glasgow as home base for a summer job / bjj, and hopefully travel a portion of that time (Oh boy oh boy oh boy )

I Started slooking into logistics, was hoping to get cues on these topics -

- What are good local web pages / facebook pages for finding short term rentals/ sublets in Glasgow?

- what web / facebook pages are good for picking up 2nd hand furniture / kitchen accessories etc.? Unneeded items giveaway pages and such?

- Any areas I should avoid renting in? I don't mind ghettos / hard living neighborhoods as long as I don't get stabbed getting home from bjj practice.

- Trying to figure out public transportation in Glasgow, particularly with relation as to how to get to bjj class. I see that the gym is in a village called Duntocher, but I'm not sure if it's in zone D1 or G8 on the Zonecard zone map -

which one is that?

- Where does one stock up on inexpensive veggies and animal protein?

- Is trekking gear (backpack, boots, sleeping bag etc.) pricey in Scotland? Should I buy it in advance or can I pick it up locally in some inexpensive locations?

- Are there any issues with finding any kind of student work in Glasgow? Waitering, dishwashing, the conveying and distribution of doorknob promotional materials (Spam by day, Joe Rogan podcast by night), any other work that doesn't put me in a pollution hub is ok. Should I expect any issues with that?

question - where in the world are you from?

this may have a influence on working in Scotland...and how many times you get stabbed

Hey. I'll answer what I can quickly n try n look into the other questions.

Transport - I've no idea about the sections but the nearest train stations to the gym are Singer ( 1.25 miles away ) and Dalmuir ( 1.5 miles away )
The Faifley bus will also take you about 3 minutes walk away from the gym.

Cheap meat n veggies will be found at Aldi ( this stuff is all Scottish produce aswell I think )

Work can probably be found easily if you don't mind kitchen or bar work. There's a ridiculous amount of takeaway places aswell which could need people to deliver menus.

There is Facebook pages for free / cheap furniture in Glasgow. I can't remember the names exactly but just searching that on Facebook should show a few.

Short term rentals - the only thing I can think of now would be airbnb. You could probably try n get a wee deal if you're goin to need it for a few months.

Getting stabbed - yeah that can happen almost anywhere here. Just gotta be careful I suppose n don't bother certain people ha.
