    stretching pain

I have been aggressively stretching for three months now,I was staying to make good progress in my flexibility but out of nowhere I am starting to have pain in my knees after my stretching sessions. Any one know why and what I can do to prevent it in the future.

Are you hyperextending your knees whilst stretching? And are there any other activities that contributed to this?

    What stretches do you do?

I'm also trying to work on my flexibility heh

The only stretches I use are from mastering the rubber guard, I've noticed that I'll get a really good stretch one day then the next day I feel stiff and it seems like I lost more then I gained but I'm steadily getting better.

Stiffness could be due to your muscles being not warm enough. Also, I like to do butterfly stretches against a wall, because for my body in particular, I realised that the very muscles i'm stretching are the very ones keeping me balanced when I'm not leaning against a wall. Also be careful you allow time for your muscles to heal before doing extensive stretching day by day

stretching is an exercise as is strength training. With stretching or strength training u get sore when u do a lot. that might be why. maybe u r doing too much. usually its best to increase slowly. Some stretches are harder on your knees so be carefull. like the one where u are seated and have your foot on your knee and puching down on the knee, that one is dangerous at least to me it is.

I think I may be over stretching,I teach physical education to kids and I have been using the rubber guard stretches as th their warm ups and I teach six classes a day. And now that I'm thinking out loud I realise I have been over stretching. Thanks for all your advice.

Don't stretch aggressively. Being mad at your joints won't help. Stretching should cause uncomfort never discomfort. If you feel pain you are taking it too far. Be patient and stay calm. It's really not worth injuring yourself.
