I was reading Adv Rubber Guard today and it pretty much stated that double-bagging is recommended anytime you're going from New York to Chill Dog, i.e. clearing the head. This prevents them from posturing out. I've cleared the head and witnessed others clear the head without double-bagging (understandably since it requires some flexibility) but it leaves that small window for them to explode out. My impression is that it's never really a bad thing to double bag. It just gives you more piece of mind over their posture.
Honorable mention should be included for free chill dogs off failed sprawls, getting trap and rolled when you're mounted, failed hip bump sweep, really any transition period. I've been tripping over that lately. I'd imagine a guy is pretty much screwed if he's in invisible collar. That's labeled as a rubber guard dead zone. Not sure if double bagging would be required to go to the gogoplata, but if he does block your foot that goes for the gogoplata, you can zombie that arm and do the sorcerer. Hope this helps, and perhaps someone more experienced in the forum can add to it or correct me if I'm wrong.
