I'm very happy that he got the W. And I know im just a lame white belt. But was I the only one screaming at the TV for him to pull his arm out of dead orchard? Dude was giving me an anxiety attack. Lol.
Tough fight for our boy. Happy he pulled it off. Even cooler that he won the 3rd from the guard. That was badass.

Wondering if the gloves were making it to hard to get out? To me looked like tried a few times but then he had to loosen it to get his left hand out and then when he did in that final minute it resulted in him losing it.
Think everyone in the area could hear Eddie telling him to 'attack the right arm' so I'm sure he wanted to, just couldn't get his left out due to the glove IMO. -
I'm extremely interested to hear some senior ranking members here explain their thoughts on why he didn't finish the dead orchard. I was screaming at the TV too.

Nobody knows but him. Like Tim said, could be the glove. He also could have just preferred to continue controlling him and strike from the position.

I'm assuming Ben wasn't confident in finishing the armbar with his one arm via Muddy Waters style and his legs are almost too long where he couldn't completely lock both shoulders. Also, both guys were extremely sweaty and there was the risk of Robertson's right arm slipping out, which would have forced Ben to settle for the Omoplata.

Tim, I think the glove was an issue too. Took him a while to pull it out. I watched it again and it looked like he lost position shortly after he pulled his arm out. Maybe the trapped arm was helping keep everything tight.
If we're lucky enough to get an Eddie breakdown, we'll know for sure. -
