EBI has been really great, and I wish there were more events for the rest of us with such a format. Most open BJJ/Grappling competitions do not allow a decent number of neat subs, and I think that is a shame. Now that Eddie Bravo has taken on metamoris, maybe he can take on the IBJJF or NAGA. I would show up and compete.

Depending on where you are from. In southern cali, there is a tournament called Subfighters. I love the format, as close to EBI as you can get, all submissions are legal for all level. Look them up. I wish we would have something like that in TX and people would come out for it. But the reality is that people don't come out for sub only tournament, which is sad.

That actually is a really good idea. It would be a great way to find new and emerging grappling talent while giving the hobbyist grappler a chance to try new stuff out that they otherwise couldn't and most other competitions.
