I think its due to having more gi BJJ than no gi I guess. The gi guys seem to like the points.
Why would someone want a tourney by points? I'm becoming more of a point guy now because of all the matches I've lost trying to win by submission. Now I'm winning more by keeping it safe, by points, unfortunately... And Im becoming more of a gi guy too since I changed school. Kind of like eddie says, gi JJ is better than no jj.
Submission Arts United (SAU) is bigger for us in Quebec, Canada. For no gi it's usually sub only and twister is allowed for advanced officially since like last year. Apart from that its the ibjjf Montreal open. That's all I'm awear of.
