Whatever position I can, slow drills that allow for movement or reps in an area I have not worked lately. This is not always possible and I have never had a hurt rib so I am not sure this is useful for your situation but perhaps it will be a way to ease back onto the mats when you are ready.
Yeah, the thing about a broken rib is that a little pressure on it will re-break it, so people laying on me, or even putting pressure with their hands or feet or anything on my upper torso in general is super dangerous, and extremely painful. I suppose that goes for any broken bone. Maybe I can train leg locks, though
