Ralek Gracie on Inside Bjj Podcast

Ralek had an interview on Inside Bjj podcast, he talked about the Metamoris payment situation, the credit card stuff, and about the Gary Tonen / Dillon Danis stuff.

Anyone have a listen? He didn't really come across very well to me.

Didn't take long for Ralek to have a little dig at EBI rules did it ? Also amuses me how he said Josh Barnett embraced Jiu-Jitsu more when he's there representing catch wrestling and doesn't train BJJ. Or as Josh said.......

"First off I don’t train in BJJ, I almost never put on a gi (Only to teach or help Erik assist), and I stick by my training in Catch Wrestling and it’s concepts. When I step on the mats of Metamoris or in the UFC cage, I am walking in on the back of my Catch Wrestling style. I don’t practice a bunch of guard work, sweeps, or limit my submission work to any BJJ derived conceptual rule base. I don’t do BJJ. Period."

Going to listen to a bit more but I fear more of the same is coming.

I listened to 40 minutes of narcissistic bullshit. I can't take anymore. I really lol with his previous life comment. Just remember Ralek made all you bitches. SMH

Hopefully in the long run there will be peace between all parties. I respect that he's trying to bring jiu jitsu practitioners together and I will admit that Eddie's fight in Metamoris 3 got me into 10th planet. I'm extremely grateful for having found 10p and subsequently, a ton of new friends in the 10p system. That being said, remember that he's a black belt in jiu jitsu, not public relations. I'm not entirely sure there was much to gain from this interview.

The fact that he's fighting is admirable. Financial considerations aside, at least he's willing to put it on the line to that extent.

Something to think about: by talking about it, we are all lending it credence. By starting a thread about it, as unpopular as he may be, it keeps him relevant. It's an interesting conversation, and I'm not a fan of being negative toward any party, but if I don't like someone I simply ignore them.

I get what you are saying Arman but if someone was promoting dangerous ideas or ideals would keeping silent be the answer ? Should we not expose bad ideas and bad concepts rather than just ignoring them ?

I think Metamoris has put on some great matches but it does have problems and the complete narcissism and Gracie spin on everything is one of them. Rather than just ignoring them I think they should be called out for what they are.
Grappling has been around for thousands of years, noone owns it or has a monopoly on it.

I'd like it if metamoris could correct and the issues and move forward but I think they have already lost a lot of trust from the competitors and the subscribers to the pay per view. Meanwhile EBI seems to be gathering more and more momentum. Be interesting to see how both promotions pan out over time.
