EBI Bracket

First off let me start by saying how stoked I am for this EBI. Even with the withdrawals of Galvao, Cyborg, and Magalhaes (due to injury), I know this event is going to be crazy. With that said, I am curious as to why Tonon and Cummings were placed on the same side again. While, I would love to see a Lister vs Tonon or Cummings match, I believe they should have been placed on opposite sides. Besides the fact that they are teammates, they have also already went against each other at EBI3 and were good sports about it.

Obviously, I'm not privy to certain information that may make this all good, but from the outside looking in, I think it would have been better to put them in the opposite sides. ie. giving Tonon a possibility to see Diniz again in a match (good luck getting past a highly motivated Boogey), if they both were to make it through. Thoughts?

P.S. If the bracket is random then, I just need to STFU.lol

Both Garry and Eddie would have to win their first two matches to face each other. I feel that's unlikely in this lineup.

I'm sure there are many many considerations when building the brackets. Most likely other concerns trumped the possibility of a semi-final match between those two. And at the end of the day, who cares? If they meet in the semis, so what? It's not like they have to fight each other first. If both guys win two matches each, let them fight each other for a place in the finals. I think that's totally reasonable.

Either way, I for one would be shocked to see them both in the semis

You always place teammates on the same side of a bracket so that you don't have one team in the finals. Boogie and I also could meet in the semis, for example, and our sensei is the dude running this thing.

Especially with that much cash on the line! Don't want two teammates in the final that just agree to split it.

Nobody wants to see team mates in the finals in a pay per view Jiu Jitsu show. It's not good for the health of the show. When Andre was still in, Keenan wanted in too but he wanted to be on opposite brackets. I can't have team mates in the finals, that could destroy the show if they decide to do a work.

If I'm not mistaken, all EBIs have done this. One of the great things about this tournament. Can't wait!
