Just a quick post to let you all know that I took part in the first Yorkshire Open, which was organised by Danny Mitchell. Great tournament that will only grow and get bigger as time goes on. I took home the bronze, which is a shame as my silver match was me attacking for the majority of the match. That left it down the ref's decision, which is the lesson I learnt and won't repeat.
Shout out to my instructor Luke Randell at 10th Planet Darlington for all of the skills that I'm learning and pulling off against a live opponent.
Cheers to Danny Mitchell for setting the tournament up. I attended a seminar by Danny a few months back and managed to use a back take that he showed me. I just need to learn to stay calm and work for the submission and believe in my skills.

Also, on a side note, this was also Sam Baker's first tournament. He trains with me at 10th Planet Darlington. He went out there and did great for his first time. I think that he entered at 60kg, and he made every opponent work for it. Even on the drive back he was analysing his reply and working on ways to improve his game. So well done for him for stepping up, as I've been trying for a while to get him to give it a go.
