Most Meaningful Submission You've Ever Hit

First off congrats to Geo on one of the biggest wins for him and the representation of the 10th planet system.

What is one of the most meaningful, favorite, or best submission you have ever hit live. Why was it so big/meaningful to you. I'd guess this past weekends showing by Geo will put his arm bar on cummings at least in his top 3.

1. Twister in the 155 Purple finals of Gracie Regionals last year. Competed at nationals months prior and lost my match (it ended in a draw) with me having my opponent in the truck for the last 2 minutes and unable to finish. I worked my truck and twister game at HQ and for months back at 10PWC and SF leading up to regionals, before hitting live in comp.

Mine would be the first time I hit my variation on the gogoplata in competition. It was a very satisfying moment having something I put a lot of work in validated.

This past weekend I had a rematch with someone who submitted me a few months back and I knew I was all over him at the start of the match but wasted energy on achilles locks I didn't have fully in at all and he's also a relentless fucker but ended up getting a choke on me when I slipped up, he doesn't tap easy. This past weekend was our first match as purple belts and I heel hooked him from a bellydown 5050 position, had to be a bit extra mean with the hip pressure on his knee because he didn't tap to the first few pops. Unfortunate that he let it get to an injury but felt fantastic to avenge a loss that has been on my mind for awhile. We've always just about avoided each other in competition until then.

I'd have to choose the over-under kneebar. I hit it in the first EBI-rules superfight of my jiu-jitsu career.

I've also hit two banana splits from the truck, but they weren't special in other ways except they look badass

The first time I hit a triangle on a tough blue belt as a white belt...never forget it. I know it's simple and stuff like that happens all day across the globe, but it showed me what hard work can get you and solidified my love for the art.

Mine would be back when I was a blue belt, I was involved in a local tournament. In the gi division, I faced a guy would had 4 stripes on his blue belt (while I only had 1) in my first match. During this match, the guy tried to JUMP guard on me, but when he hit the ground, his guard opened, and I passed easily, at this point I spent the rest of the match in side control looking for subs, but he was defending well. Toward the end of the match, last 15 seconds, I heard someone yell "Your stalling". I thought it was the ref and didn't know better (as at the time I was still new to competition). So to prevent me losing a point, I pulled a sloppy knee on belly (as at that point, I wasn't good there), the guy rolled me, and stepped over me.. The ref awarded him 4 points before he was even mounted all the way, and he won... His team celebrated like they won a world championship, this guy went on to take first, and after the division even got promoted by his instructor to purple belt..

They paired me and him up again in the first round of the nogi bracket, I pulled guard and pulled off the Invisible Croc, without him being able to do much of anything.

Except I hit a heel hook, and I got yelled at for it. Had just learned Katame-No-Kata and wanted to try it out in Randori (rolling), it worked and I never looked back

First tournament I did this year I had an armbar at an in house tournament.. I didn't know time was expiring and it was a teammate so I applied pressure gently as time ran out and I lost on points.



A couple months later at a tournament I had an opportunity to finish with an armbar and failed to do so, ultimately losing in OT. This one was different though as I found it early.. I'm still a little salty about that because I was wearing a hand sleeve thing due to a minor injury I sustained catching a coworker as they were falling into a door and lost some skin on a door latch and I kept losing any attempt at a grip.

This last tournament I caught every one of my opponents with an armbar and the photographers on hand got a good picture I can hold onto for a while from the finals. Also the fact that if not for right before match weigh ins I'd have been in a lower weight division than this.

Caught a loop choke on a blue belt as a 3 stripe white belt, my first submission of a colored belt. Granted, he's about 25-30 years older than me. Still counts.
