Lockdown - Getting to your side

I play the Lockdown a lot at my non-10th Planet academy. Most of my training partners out weigh me by 40-100lbs, with probably double to triple my strength. At first, my Lockdown game was mostly unstoppable. Now, my training partners have caught on and have been shutting me down by smashing the hell out of me before I get to my side to get to dogfight or sitting their weight down on my attacking arm when going for the electric chair sweep. Any tips?

Second question, locking down guys with massive thighs and calves....any tips with holding on to the Lockdown there?

    Thank you!

Maybe I'm not doing it right, lol. When I go to whip up, the moments my hands hit their ribs, they drop their weight and smash me. I try to time it well, but they've become saavy enough to recognize that when the Lockdown gets slapped on, they know a sweep or escape attempt is coming.

Do you manage to get the double unders? Or dou they smash you in over-under? If so try to get to perfect double unders by using the jaws of life. And use your legs and abdominal muscels to perform the angry rainbow to really whip them from side to side.

Yes, I whip down and get the double underhooks. I guess I need to work on my abs. I'm not exactly tiny, but I roll with a lot of monsters. They just settle their weight down and use pressure to stuff my movement.

Also, they tend to have a larger circumference on their legs, so sometimes the Lockdown is a struggle to keep latched on.

I've been thinking of going to the Apollo choke in some of these situations or trying a sweep under pressure that I saw on Submissions 101 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js8m...fG57&index=196). I've hit that sweep by accident but I'm going to try to focus on getting it now.

Same scenario for me too man. 10p Ronin playing Lockdown half. The system is insane but like everything Jiu Jitsu I think weight and body mechanics play a big factor. I'm not even trying to sweep the massive beasts anymore. Dude has 50+lb on me and wrestled in Nebraska. Wore a leotard since he was 6. Haha do I even want to try to sweep his ass? Plow through in Dogfight?
Probably just gonna get smashed before any of that happens man. You could Whipper Cut > Electric Underhooks if they're smashing you and you want the underhook back to play Electric/Dogfight, but I think the path of destruction against the massive beasts is Super Stomp > Cocoon > Flying Gogo Clinch. Size changes the game man but what do I know. I'm just a white beltch

Instead of placing your hands on your opponent's hips when you try to whip, try tomahwaking one arm towards their armpit as you move to your hips. If you want to roll to your right up, tomahawk your left arm.

Einstein showed me this variation and I personally find it easier. I find the motion of tomahawking conducive to rolling to your hip.

So if I have the Lockdown on their right leg and I want to roll to my right to get to dogfight and be on the opponent's right side, i would tomahawk my left arm towards his right armpit? My right hand still goes to his left hip or ribs when whipping up? Thank you!

Yes for the first part but no regarding your right hand on the hip. You are pushing your opponent's chest to the side and off of your chest so that you can roll to your hip. I leave my right hand in a T-Rex so I'm ready to go to Perfect Double Unders at the end of my Tomahawk swing. Also. remember to bring your knees towards your chest while maintaining the lockdown as you Tomahawk - this disrupts your opponent's base.
