Kentucky Senator Rand Paul sought to end the current authorization for war that was passed on the IMMEDIATE AFTERMATH OF 9/11. This act otherwise known as the 9/11 act gave US presidents the permission to invade any nation they suspected of harboring Terrorists and due to this bill the US is now at war with 7 Nations. This bill led to the invasion of Iraq that has killed a million civilians and thousands of US troops as well as rendering Iraq a safe haven for ISIL terrorists.
This is the first time since 2002 that the senate has voted on this issue that is of utmost importance to the national security system of the US. As expected the bill was shot down.
