Back-Step vs. 1/4 Guard

Hey everyone,
When playing 1/4 guard, I've been having people back-step into Honeyhole more frequently on me if I don't get the underhook in immediately.
I was just curious to see what other people experience when trying to prevent the back-step while playing 1/4 guard, or reactions to the back-step.
Any and all help/tips welcome.

As soon as I feel the Back-Step coming I use my top leg like a butterfly hook to jam the leg that is back-stepping.

Hey man try playing 1/4 stomp. If you have a knee squeeze over the calf you are doing half the work for them by essentially letting in the reaping leg. If you play 1/4 stomp you are basically shin on shin which makes the entry to the honey hole not exist. From here you can control the slicing knee with a free hand shelf the knee up on your stomach and hit a push-pull lockdown.
