This is great advice. When I first started playing music on a stage in front of an audience, it made me anxious. But to be honest, I enjoyed the feeling. It's like when you're on a rollercoaster going up that first hill. These days when I get on stage I miss that thrill a little because it feels very old-hat. It's still loads of fun, but it doesnt give me rollercoaster-belly anymore.
Obviously there is little risk of personal injury on-stage, so it's not a fair comparison with a grappling competition. But I think the idea is the same.
