ok all you computer freaks.. (change IP)

Ive been all over the interweb trying to figure out how to change my IP address. Ive tried going through command prompt and releasing/renewing it, unplugging my modem for a few minutes, restarting my computer.. And i still cant change my IP. Ive waited a couple days hoping it would change itself but still nothing. its a cable modem if that helps at all. I know this isnt a tech forum but ive looked in all of them i could find, and the ones i mentioned (and then typing my ip in the url but i dont know the username or password that they are asking for) are all that i could find. But for some reason it seems like you guys tend to have the answer to every question in the universe so if anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.

Depends on why you would want to change your IP?

Not saying this is the reason but if you had been banned from another forum you could use a Proxy server to temporarily change your IP so you can access the site. If you want to permanently change it there is software you can purchase to do that.

no this is the only forum i actually am a part of. (other than highdeas), i was actually wondering because i think someone found out my ip (not sure if it was just from going to the wrong website or what), but ive noticed some of the files on my computer have been viewed recently without me ever looking at them and nobody else has access to my computer. and ive checked and my firewall/anti-virus is all running fine. so someone has to be accessing it remotely, and the only way i know to do that requires them to know your IP.

Well you cant really change your IP provided by your ISP. It will automaticaly renew itself (unless you pay for a static). Make sure you have a good firewall, more than just the built in Windows one. You can change settings of your own LAN by logging intoi your router and adjusting settings from there. ALso alot of routers have a log you can look at and see what traffic is coming in to your network

192.168.100.1 on your browser if you dont have a wireless router and you can view the info of the modem with cable HSI. Most routers 192.168.1.1 will get you there but you will need username and password. Good luck my brother is a network systems engineer and used to hack my shit and fuck with me when he was in school. Nothing stopped that fucker but duct taping him to his bed when he was passed out drunk.

open browser, go to 192.168.1.1 (or whatever your router's address is), clone your mac address, save settings, unplug modem, unplug router, wait 30 seconds, plug in modem, plug in router... your ISP will see a new mac address when your router resets, it will think it's a new computer, and it will auto assign you a new IP you're welcome

Get your hands on a ghost modem and nobody can see that shit. Including your ISP they will only see bandwith usage. But be warned they are getting good at finding that shit.

I would HIGHLY doubt that someone has hacked through your firewall/router to change files on your machine. Although it is possible to do, it would be much more likely that someone hopped on your wireless network to do that.

If you still are sure someone hacked your network, contact your ISP and see if they can give you a new lease on an IP.
