Yeah, big red guillotined the shit out of me a few years ago, It was after he won the worlds as a blue. It's one of the reasons I started lifting heavy again. The other 2 reasons were 265 pound Amir Allam and 230 pound Victor Webster pretty much doing the same thing to me. When it comes to dudes over 220 pounds I was getting smashed. Now I can at least stale mate with these monsters :-)

165 then 170-175 now. I could do 10 pull ups then, now 22. Don't ever let anyone convince you that consistently working on your strength is unnecessary. It's Sunday afternoon right now and I'm at the gym lifting as I type this :-)

I had an old BJJ instructor of mine tell me that lifting was detriimental to your BJJ. Needless to say I no longer train under the guy. Any athlete will benefit from strength conditioning. Period.
