When Gil stepped in between them and shoved Jason, Jason's hands flew up, looked like he swung on Jake and/or Gil. That's when all Mayhem broke out LoL! Mayhem's own dumbass fault, although he was doing a favor for Scott Coker. It ended the CBS broadcasts.... You are right about it being a dumb fight for Nick to take, but he still offered... The fight was set up and going down. Jason dick tucked, plain and simple. Daley has a better chance of a w than Jason anyway, so in the end the fan's win.

but I think you are missing the point. He "club punched" a guy. That translates to a bitch move in every circle. You balled up and through a punch at a dude not looking at you. Then the guy wants to fight you. You then offer to fight the guy at 185..but then think about it and realize it's a dumb idea so then you try to bounce out of it. Not because he is actually scared or couldn't beat mayhem..but because he is a world class fighter and has no PROFESSIONAL reason to fight. That's why he should have kept that right hand cocked and stayed out of it. I don't think he's a gangsta. I think he's a kid that let his persona get him into a stupid situation. The only acting is being done by Mayhem, trust me. I was with Nick backstage before this fight. He honestly doesn't like Mayhem and they were very explicit in showing this. Jason was "trying" to hard. Everyone just ignored him. Talk to Nick or Nate for a few minutes, watch their behavior and then tell me it's an act. I know it's not. And Nick will admit he loses it sometimes when he shouldn't, but that is just Nick. The only part of Nick that wasn't gangster that night, was his shoes! I was all over him about his grey suede crocks! Look at my pic, I think it shows them
I don't blame Jason for soaking up the fame of this, but that is exactly what the Gracie camp was complaining about backstage before the fight. They were all pissed when Jason tried to hang out and chill with us. Was pretty straightforward about he was trying to get some fame and publicity off of them. That was before all this went down....

I don't think it boils down to being a 'club punch'. Think about what happened in less than 3 seconds. Dude comes in and gets someones face, you have 2 seconds left to decide what to do. pushing occurs and now 1 second left. It comes down to natural reaction. Obviously for Nick Diaz and everyone in the Cesar Gracie camp, its back up your crew. I guarantee you, if someone rushed my brother, they'd get socked in the eye. Than we could decide what kind of punch it was and who it came from.
At that point, it had nothing to do with bitch moves, promoting fights, or looking for reasons to fight. Mayhem triggered that punch by stepping up to Gil. Doesn't mean it was the right reaction by the Cesar Gracie camp, but that is what happens. I 100% believe Dana White when he says that is why you have security and you don't these people in the cage after fights. Way to much testerone and adrenaline for people to think about being professional.
I do agree with on there is no professional reason for Diaz to fight Mayhem. But you know what, there is no confidence in Mayhem that he could win a fight against someone like Diaz under 185. Too much strength loss. So we could play this "he's being a bitch" finger pointing all day.
Also, in some cases there is a fine line in a sucker punch. the confrontation had already been made and someone's gonna get punched. It doesn't mean that you have to be looking the dude in the eye when you punch him.

Oh and Mayhem couldn't win under 185 against Diaz, but Diaz is the favored(slightly) to win at 185. IMO.
Don't get me wrong, I really like watching Mayhem fight, I think he is a beast and extremely talented. I even think he very close to breaking out into the highlight of his career soon.
These are just my thoughts on that occurrence.

I mean..don't get me wrong...you know dude...I'm just a fan...so this is just entertainment for me. This is your life. Not trying to tell you what happened..you know. I'm just coming from the outside looking in. I want to see the fight...well actually I want to see Daley vs. Diaz more than any other fight right now. It will be fun to see if Daley can handle my boy's left. If he beats Daley, I frankly don't see him being around strikeforce long enough for it to matter. That's when he needs to focus on calling out GSP...heck...if kosheck can get a fight on pure shit talking, Diaz definitely should.
