    10th Planet Revelations

I've been a forum member since the beginning and before that I was still repping 10th Planet, but like many others, I had never trained at a 10th Planet school. Recently, I hosted my first seminar and had the pleasure of having Chris Herzog pour 4 hours of knowledge on us. Needless to say, I had revelations. Finally, I had the opportunity to have mistakes corrected and details refined. I came to realize, a lot of my knowledge was useless because I was missing the finer points. With the exception of my escapes from various positions and flexibility, my entire game is about to change. Drilling properly and not moving on so fast has refueled my fire. I admire all of my 10th Planet brothers and despite not being a slouch, I'm ready to be a monster. Well a 149 pound monster anyway.

alot of my shit was corrected when I trained with Brandon MC for the first damn time. My rubber guard does pretty good. At least on the blue belt level. Come to Decatur some time hell fuk it make the trip we will all meet up and eat sloppy hamburgers or meat loaf or something.

I plan on it. Not sure when though. For some reason NC is closer than Alabama, no clue why...

I know the feeling Nelson. I was the same way for a long time. Honestly it still happens probably once a year or so. That's one reason I love jiu jitsu. Your own person game will continue to evolve and change and as long as you let it. As long as you let it the more revelations you'll have.

Hope you can make it up sometime. Charlotte is not too far from Orlando. Probably an 8 hr drive or so. I grew up in West Palm Beach so I can relate some. Their is a Grapplers Quest in Feb. in Coral Springs I was thinking about hitting up, but I got too much going on right now. Maybe next time I can plan a trip and stop by Orlando. I would love to roll with you guys. Mr. Fantastic might can vouch that I kind of know what I'm doing on the mats.

The way I stay sharp and "keep the revelations coming" is to always play to peoples strength. If I'm going against the "side control guy", I let him get me in side mount and if I can escape, great, if I can't, then I'll immediately watch a ton of videos after training about side mount escape until I find exactly what I did wrong. Doing this, allows me to make sure I'm always progressing. When I feel I'm not getting challenged at the gym, that's when I start learning new techniques and the trial and error starts all over again. I have a very structured way to learn and I've found that when you skip around and learn techniques beyond your comprehension, it ends up ineffective and weak - thus being pointless and a waste of time.

every time i get a chance to roll with someone who's established in 10pjj i have a revelation. when i trained with john in hartford he pretty much made me scrap my whole game plan and showed me the half guard path. when i went to neale's RG seminar he refined my RG and we revisited some half guard and worked on some attacks from twister side. ill almost always skip side mount and switch it to twister side and then mount while getting a head and arm choke in. if i cant get them to tap from that, ill turn it into an arm bar/spiderweb after they have exhausted themselves attempting to escape it.

im having a revelation right now just thinking about rolling. the more you learn, the more you find out exactly how much you dont know.
