ok so i dont know a ton about the belt rankings and how they work in tournaments. But i was wondering though im still a white belt (after about 4 years), am i allowed to enter into higher ranked tournaments? like would they let a white belt enter a purple belt tournament? or do they just have open divisions for all belt rankings?

theres a pretty popular judo black belt down here who is officially only a bjj white belt, he entered the purple belt division this year and the blue belt division last year at the pan pacs.

Gi I dont know what they do now a days, for the most part they want you to be the rank of the div you are in, but no gi tends to be yrs training, so enter advanced in a no gi.

Apparently the gi I borrowed came with an impassible guard and impenetrable collar choke defense, not really worried about applying them. I dubbed it Excalibur and boy did i look stupid in it. Didn't wanna sit out though and didn't feel right pickin on white belts. They had no problem with me entering blue division they just told me to find a blue belt. So I did. i entered mundials this year
at the blue belt ranks and fronted as a blue belt lol
i lost my first match by points
and the dude that smoked my ass got his purple after LOL
but skipping from white to purple is a HUGE step
just do the blue
