    Body triangle from the guard

What do you guys think about using a body triangle while someone is caught in your guard? I pulled it for some reason or another while rolling the other day and it felt like an amazing control position that you can't really do much in, so I ended up transitioning to rubber guard. Is there anything you can do from that position? It seems that you might be able to transition to the back if you are slippery and sneaky enough.

Depending on your opponent's flexibility, there is a NASTY calf-crush counter to the body triangle from guard. I used to like using it too because I have long legs and could get it on most people. Then I got it on Ryan (one of our blue belts). He lifted his right leg up and overhooked so we were ankle-to-ankle and brought his foot to the mat. Suddenly it felt like my leg was caught in a bear trap. Coach yelled at me for not tapping but it happened so fast I did even have time to react and, most importantly, it happened because I didn't even realize I was in danger. I haven't put anyone in a body triangle from the bottom since.

Yea that's usually just a Stall / Buying time technic. No Gi, With GI, theres a Eziquiel & a Palm UP, Palm UP, option

It pretty much limits your offensive options to Kimura, which you then have to open up to finish anyway (usually).

anderson silva does this all the time. it can put a nasty squeeze on your opponent and make it difficult for him to breathe. Not a lot of options but great for frustrating your opponents.

ironic i just read this.. last night i was with my buddies and we were all grappling and i saw one of them get tapped by just a body triangle. I dont know if he's a sissy or if the other one just had an excellent body triangle. but it was funny to see.

im not a fan of it. probably because i usually roll against people bigger then me and its just not effective for anything but stalling. it has been brought up that your ability to attack is limited. i love taking the RG path and its impossible to with a body triangle.

I do body triangles from back control but not for guard. I'm either trying to play a clinched close or I'll open her up.

A body triangle from the front oor back? I know I can make people tap with my body triangle from the back. I prefer to work for a proper submission, but if enough time passes, I'll just squeeze.

I know with really long legs, if I am rolling with someone very skinny that they can just do the stand and bounce break(we call it the Shake'n'Break) so I will body triangle so I can use time to break grips(with gi) or fight for maybe an overhook since I like doing alot of triangles from the overhook, like Eddie did in his match with Royler to win.
