The return of Royce Gracie?

I was checking something on Wikipedia regarding the date Royce had fought Yoshida when I noticed this paragraph,

Possible return to UFC

On December 15, 2010 the UFC held a press conference in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil announcing an event August 27, 2011 at the HSBC Arena. During the press conference Royce stated: "This return of UFC to Brazil touched me, made me feel the wish of coming back to the Octagon. Everything has being negotiated with Dana White. Let's wait,”.


Does anyone know anything more about this and if true is it actually a good idea for Royce to return? Especially after what happened with Matt Hughes?

They need a seniors league in the UFC, maybe two weight classes heavy weights and light/middleweights. Age limitation 40+. So we could have marc coleman, randy couture, ken shamrock, chuck lidell, royce and rickson fight as long as they want in a competitive environment.

I was talking about that with someone at work just the other day. I was thinking it would be a great idea. The more I thought about it, the more I started to kind of play devil's advocate: What other professional sport (besides possibly golf...) hangs on to its seniors and seeks out a way for them to stay competetive? Sure Brett Favre could play another 15 years in the Senior NFL, but who's paying for season tickets to that? No. They retire and move on to the next chapter in their lives. Personally, I'd love to see Randy Couture compete until he's 90. But the generations coming up and watching the sport don't. They wanna see the best fighters at their peak; not former greats fighting older, weaker, slower opponents. Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn in the "Rumble from Down Under Your Colostomy Bag" sponsored by Bud ExtraLight and Depends for Athletes. Winner gets a free double hip replacement. That's just not what professional sports is about. Or at least I don't think it should be. (Yes, I know they both could stomp me like a French grape; probably well into their 80's...)

For me, as a fan, I just wanna see good fights. If I want to see a Chuck Liddell knockout or Dan Severn goon-choking the shit out of someone I gotz a dvd player. If Randy, Chuck, Trigg, Coleman, Severn, and Royce are game for a geriatric league then I'm all for it. I just don't think enough fans would be.

The advantage is a fight needs only a cage and 2 fighters who are willing to fight, it lasts 3 5 minute rounds and can be integrated in to a fight card that is filled with young throbbing talent.
For Bret Favre to play football , you need like 10 teams with 30 players each, a stadium just for this purpose and people to devote 2-3 hours of their time to watch him try to not to trip over his overgrown white ass hair while trying to throw the football.
