I say this is GSP (because the dude is just unbelievable) but Shields has a chance for sure. I would take 2.5 odds on Shields just for bettting sake but I believe and want in my heart for GSP to win.

I'm not a hughe GSP fan but i'm sorry Shields fans GSP is going to this fight by out pointing Shields... standing or on the ground! Their is a reason he's spent less time on his back than anyother fighter in UFC history. He has superior wresteling and is (in my unprofeshional opinion) one of, if not the most athletic fighter in MMA. ! GSP trains with ACTIVE Olimpic Wrestelers and holds his own. Mr. Sheild's 6yr 15 fight win strak DONE.

I expect Georg to keep Shield at range and set up TD's with his jab. Once on groud and on top he will play it safe. (because he doesn't like to finish fights for some reason). 5 rounds unanimous decision goes to GSP.

This fight will mirror the fight he had with Josh koscheck.

hope we dont see shields try and sit on gsps legs like he did against mayhem the entire fight... Gsp hips are to explosive to just take the guy down and if your defending from punches the entire time shields wont have much time to use his top game. he likes so much. GSP to win via joe rogan spinning back kick lol well at least itd be a good commentary.

ok....I am just kind of thinking. If he has been working on his standup (Jake Shields)...especially if he is working with the same staff the other graciefighters have...I'm just wondering if we can see a jake shields that's just average on his feet....he'd probably give GSP a pretty good fight.

5 more seconds and Mayhem would have strangled Shields and there would be no need for this thread. You're seriously deluding yourself if you think Jake has any hope of winning this one other than by pulling some Matt Serra out his butt-hole.

Nelson, I applaud you for taking this stance. I don't see Shields getting GSP. Even if he can close the gap without getting clocked (more difficult with that piston-like jab GSP has acquired), GSP is no slouch in the takedown defense department. Shields got Henderson because Henderson HATES jiu jitsu and doesn't really work it from what I understand. He has no game from his back, so yes, when you put a wrestler on his back and he doesn't train for it, you will dominate him. And yes, he did look tired in that fight. I believe he also decisioned Mayhem, who isn't THAT big, for every round of his fight, but it was basically a positional battle. If you're a high level black belt, you should be able to submit Mayhem, who while competent, isn't supposed to be that proficient with BJJ (although he is good).
GSP has far, FAR too many attributes: the conditioning to grind it out and get STRONGER over 5 rounds, pure athleticiscm and coordination, SUPERIOR overall striking: boxing, clinch, kicking, knees. As good or BETTER wrestling offensive/defensive, and a legit black belt in BJJ. On paper, this should be a 4th or 5th roudn stoppage by strikes from the top.

I say GSP in the 3rd or 4th by Joe's turning side kick.

GSP is due to lose? If anyone's due to lose it's Shields, going his last 15 fights undefeated, the last three of which he came damn close to losing to fighters who at this stage of their careers are not in the position or of the skill level that GSP is. They all possessed great strengths, but GSP is a complete fighter and that will make the difference.

    GSP TKO 3
