Pettis will risk title fight to make UFC debut

Mike Roberts of MMA Inc., Pettis’ management company, told MMAWeekly.com on Friday that Pettis would be returning to the cage instead of sitting out for nearly a year to wait for a title shot.

“Anthony was obviously disappointed in not getting the title shot, but he also understands why Dana made that decision,” Roberts said. “After consulting with Anthony and Duke Roufus, we collectively decided that it would be in Anthony’s best interest to take a fight in the meantime.

“A 10-month or possible year layoff was just too long. We believe with a win against a top lightweight contender Anthony will still get the title shot later in the year”.

win, loose, or draw Pettis deserves the title shot, they should speed the rematch up so Pettis doesn't have to wait too long, his Matrix Kick should get him the shot by itself, Maynard has always been boring until 1 round of 1 fight & Pettis has been exciting from day 1

I initially thought that wec champ should fight the ufc#1 contender for the next title shot, but the decision to give the wec champ a ufc title shot was already made. So, it would be kinda f'ed up if the ufc went against their word and didn't eventually give Pettis a title shot after Egar vs Maynard rematch. I can't wait to see what kind of magic Pettis goes for in his next fight.

I think this is a good choice..he would lose alot of his hype if he sat out. It is risky though cause if he does lose id be willing to bet he would lose his contendership.
