    studying jiu jitsu matches?

    right way wrong way?
do i study the guy whos making the mistakes?
or do i watch the dominate one and see how he executes his techniques

for the longest time i would watch these matches without knowing what was going on
and i still dont know everything thats going on

so the way i study a jiu jitsu player/match is by

    1.watching a successful sweep/transition

i look to see all the details that made it work and try to see what
details would cause it to not work every little detail such as hand placement
    hip positions etc

2.the other guy that gets passed/swept

i look to see what they went wrong and how many steps back they would have
    to go to correct it

    3.action/reaction
i study all the details of what moves causes certain reaction
and compare it with other grapplers of all levels

    4.postions
i like to compare how/and what other people do from certain positions
like the guard mount.and see who is faster

i know im still really young in my jiu jitsu journey
but i would like to know how you guys study, after all being a student of jiu jitsu
for about a year now all i have done from the sport was take
so i would love to share and attempt to give back a little

    i watched this match OBSESSIVELY
ryan hall at grapplers quest with wilson reis

Even though i have no formal training, I always record my training sessions and matches. I like to go back and see my mistakes when I get caught in something.
