    Wrist to ankle?

    So when I'm working guard I feel like I have better control grabbing my ankle with like a monkey grip, can someone explain to me the thought behind the closed fist, wrist to ankle?

    It's the difference in using your wrist and bicep curl to hold their posture versus your finger strength.

    Well there are a few distinct advantages;
    1. Your op will have a harder time breaking your grip and regaining their posture.
    2. Using your grip in any manner is using energy and strength, wrist to ankle uses lees strength/energy
    3. any tweak to a technique that increases effectiveness while decreasing the amount of required strength and or energy is well...
    OUTDAMNSTANDING!!! Hope that helps!
