Not so sure about the ego thing.. not going to name any names(don't want to dog on someone) but I know someone whos asked me multiple times if I think I could kick this random person walking by ass etc.. or if I ever think about that type of stuff.. "like I could take him and so on" I /facepalmed almost instantly.. but I don't subscribe to the whole closet ninja thing.. thinking I'm a bad-ass walking down the street etc..(one brick you're out :P) maybe others do iono. Just think its funny whenever I think about it.
ya well jiu jitsu gives you some confidence and definitely makes you aware. so whether your tapping people out or getting tapped, i think it helps balance the ratio of being humble and confident or in some cases cocky where your ego is heightened. i think we get the terms self esteem and ego mixed up but a self esteem boost can be beneficial especially with facing day to day issues as well as being humbled on the other extreme so you are aware of consequences that can occur.

Anyways, i can't even describe my obsession with jiu jitsu. Even when i'm not doing it I think about it. And when i do it i think about it. once you get a taste and even stop for awhile it's still in the back of your head like a crackhead that you need to get out that energy and challenge yourself.

Sometimes when life gets hard and your getting choked the fuck out you need someone to have your back and throw you a gi to give you that slight edge. the gi being used in the heat of battle is like popeye when he needs his spinach. Or like goku needing a senzu bean. well, regardless of the gi being used or not, jiu jitsu is the gi being thrown on life.
