We were working guard passing where the person on bottom was supposed to sweep or escape, and the gym owner yelled this to the class with the biggest smile on his face. He yelled this to a class of 30 and only me and Scotty were his target. He was def anti 10p before and thought of it as a stalling position from watching people do it shitty. It was his way of giving us props as having the best guards in the gym and it meant alot to me. All we did was use it effectively and train hard and converted a man who used to not even look me in the eye or turn away when we talked. Now we have great mutual respect. He even lets me teach the more advanced guys before and after class, which was definitely a no-no before.
Before the year is over, the free roll time will be full of trucks and hands trapped on the mat and I dont think he'll mind. He is die hard brown belt under Julio Soneca and it just proves, if you present 10p and yourself properly, there is no valid argument against it. But its a baby step to my goal achieved.
Yeah, I know-Cool Story Bro! you had to be there i guess
