how does he explain all the tapouts in tournaments? Both guys know it and yet someone gets tapped. Also, if I learn boxing to defend better against boxers, do I say boxing is useless? Logic fail.

A black belt tried to box and failed. I'm really getting tired of seeing incredible JJ guys try and become boxers because they learned how to jab properly.

Example: if BJ would've gone for the takedown from the beginning against Edgar the same way he did against Fitch, I'm sure he could've finished it, or at least won the decision because BJ on the ground >>>> edgar. But BJ wanted to box the faster fighter. Bad idea. I mean BJ's boxing is great. But seriously dude forgets he's a blackbelt sometimes.

Einemo is a JJ wiz. But instead of working the ground, he kept trying to win the stand up against a guy who prefers that. That's not a failure of JJ. It's failure of proper game planning.

That's why I give super props to Vinny Mag...he's a JJ guy and he uses his JJ. Even if he learned great boxing, he'd use his JJ cuz that's his bread and butter. Randy Couture is a great greco guy. Yeah he'll box you, but he uses that to close the distance and get that clinch.

JJ didn't fail. The practitioner did. Frank Mir would tie that kid in knots. Then let's see how ineffective JJ is.

i think it's just not his thing. Although i don't agree with his statements in particular, i however still think this guy is a badass fighter and shouldn't keep any of you from thinking otherwise. Check his record and his fights and he's also somewhat comedic in his interviews. don't forget he has a superb wrestling background and is labeled as a submission grappler in his style. so him saying that may have just successfully gotten under few peoples skins. May I point out to everyone just 3 fights ago he submitted Michał Kita at Bellator 31 in an omoplata and won with couple of rear naked chokes in his past fights as well. compare that to his racked up KOs and TKOs which is something he's obviously excellent at doing. Seriously everyone needs to watch this guys fights I wouldn't doubt that he may be champion someday and is definitely a force to be reckoned:

Maybe he's trolling. I know he's a great fighter. It's just a dumb comment. And I don't see him being a champ after his performance with Einemo. He got rocked more than once by a guy who's technically not even a striker. Cain, JDS, Carwin, Brock, etc would maul him. He is exciting though.

it comes down to what eddie has always said and what 10th planet is about. The jiu-jitsu folks are practicing and learning isn't necessarily geared towards MMA oriented competition. Jiu-jitsu for mma, jiu-jitsu for the street, and jiu-jitsu for the sport are all 3 different games.
