Hi guys here is our continuation...
Mouser Strength Dynamics
"Currently, we are in hypertrophy. My goal here is to cause an increase in muscle fiber size (without causing too much of an increase in total body weight). This increase in size will be utilized later on and will lay the foundation for the strength phase. In addition, I'm using some of the Olympic lifts at this point to help build explosive endurance in the posterior chain, hips and shoulders"
Hypertrophy = Now were FINALLY moving some weight!! This is the goods guys. When this all began I explained to John competition is a MUST and a goal for me this year. Currently I am training for the NOVa (www.usgrappling.com) On March 19. In this particular Tournament series I will compete at 162lbs. and UNDER. This is ideal as my starting body weight was a lean/mean 155. I was in good shape previous to his arrival so even if I were to blow up to 165 I could easily bleed the weight to make it under the line. MY GOAL is exsplosive strenght at my ideal weight. I want to be the strongest 155'er you ever grabbed so here we are.
This Journal is a week or 2 behind, so I can fill in quite a few gaps for you all. The exercises have remained consistent but obviously the weight has increased in each movement. The most interesting thing to me is the fact that things like CLEANS or HIGH PULLS and even SQUATS become easier with weight. The weight MAKES you do the technique properly. Much like grappling a bigger or stronger opponent you realize how vital technique really is.
My weight has fluctuated as much as 5lbs. up and I have a marked appetite increase (READ - Hungry as a mother fucker) My body is wanting fuel and I'm feeling strong.
EFFECTS ON MY JITS GAME:
Increased energy - I feel like I can blast into a scramble whenever necessary for an escape or position trans. Explosive energy is great for these scrambles.
Core strenght and posture power - Imagine if no one (at your weight) could break you down inside their guard. Now imagine giving up 50lbs and STILL having unbreakable posture PLUS the explosiveness to posture and lift out of a near triangle! Priceless! Now this isnt week 2... The example above was from week 4 or week 1 hypertrophy. Big difference now and worth the work
Mentally I feel more confident in my body's capabilities and my core strenght. I feel good. My rolling has dropped off just a bit as we have increased into 3 days a week but I am still repping and coaching moves 5 days a week and rolling only 2 days now. This is key to muscle memory. Also I have choosen to TEMPO roll with heavier guys for cardio and resistance. Little or no 100% rolling at this point unless I have a guy close to my body weight. In this example I can tell you a 150 guy feels like 115lbs to me now. I'm hoping soon that 180lb'ers feel like 150's this is my goal.
Hit me/us for more details on the past few weeks notes.
