Yeah I trained in Aikido for like two years when I was younger and quit because I felt like none of this would ever help me if I got attacked in the street...but if you ever walk up to me and put both hands around my neck you better watch the F*** out!

Hasn't Segal been outed for some of his aikido claims. I specifically remember reading that although he claims he was the first westerner to open an aikido school in japan the school was actually owned by his father in law who already had opened the school and Segal just taught there.

That was kind of how I had thought about it. Sort of like Joe giving GSP tips on his side kick. It's not like GSP had never thrown a turning side kick before. Joe just helped him fix his technique to add a lot more power.

exactly, i used to throw those against heavy bags back in the day, & always flat footed, & i was recently corrected while teaching jiujitsu at a traditional martial arts stricking academy

Ok, but Silva naild this kick with the same technical efficiency against Henderson as he did against Belfort. He put out an instructionl on the kick! Seagal is a JOKE! Anderson and his managment played on that joke as a publicity gimic.

Since when is Aikido known for its kicks. What makes Seagal an authority on kicks?
