If they must maintain day ahead weigh-ins, then they need to give a "supervised" hydration at the time of weigh-ins. This weight-cutting thing started in Wrestling, where it is no longer allowed because of safety reasons. But we all know Combat Sports is way safer than wrestling, so it should be allowed in BJJ/MMA... Really??? This is your logic? I could never even imagine wanting to prove myself in combat against a smaller, weaker opponent!!! What would I be proving? What would I be screaming to the world??? "I am a scared PUSSY" that's what! It's similar to College football teams taking on High School football teams in the Rose Bowl. What would that prove? Nada. Counter point? Please.
Counter point.
Its about coloring between the lines. The rules are, you weigh in the day before, you compete the next day. If I can cut 15lb and still kick your ass, than I won fair and square. If I take steroids, pass the drug test, and kick your ass, I still cheated, I just didn't get caught. They are two different things.
I look at like this, if you can't cut the weight than your body isn't on the same level as a person that can or you didn't train hard enough, just like if you can't high kick, your body either isn't capable or you didn't train hard enough. Let me put in your terms, if you can't cut the weight and fight to your best abilities, than your a pussy.
We have all seen plenty of fights where a competitor cut to much weight and looked like dog shit and lost. The does the guy that win say oh it doesn't count cause he was dehydrated? No, because they fought within the rules and the better man got his hands raised.
So I repeat, its about coloring between the lines.
