Rolled out of two of them last night. The trick I figured out is that when I roll, they're usually able to keep the foot hooked on my leg which means I'd just end up right back where I was. My solution (and I concede there may be better...) if they have my right arm in the Carni and my left leg is hooked is this: I roll, swing my left leg as wide as I can and use my left hand to stuff their ankle hard. This unhooks my leg, I swing it in an arc, and I continue the roll. I end up rolling up into side control. I can't call it a high-percentage escape but I've had to work a little on my Carni counters because dudes have gotten hip to the Ginger Snap. I got into a bad habit when I'd get tired inside someone's guard of just letting guys go all the way to jiu claw just so I could roll out and catch the Ginger Snap. I was hitting it a lot and now guys won't try to go to jiu claw on me nearly as much. The Carni seems to have made a resurgence so I've been looking for ways to get tricky with my defense.
