Marshal is still growing as a writer but he adds a very much needed personal perspective to martial arts literature. Not many people will experience the kind of self developmental gains of jiujitsu or martial arts in general. I think Marshal does a good job of writing about the trans-formative effects of jiujitsu on one's character.

The book is amazing. I own it, and its a great book. Really got me inspired to travel to train as well. Marshall gives great love to 10th planet and talks about how he used some half guard stuff while training at bj's gym. You learn a lot about the culture out in Hawaii as well. Just an overall great book!
