It does suck but it keeps the sport alive the fact is those of us who apprieciate the finer points of the sport are out numbered by the dumb drunks wearing tap out shirts and geting there shorts pulled down in Wataburger! We have to deal with some of this crap to keep the sport thriving

Fighters are worth their draw, not their skill. Basic economics.

I sort of thought the UFC had grown beyond this sort of stuff. MMA has, you can see that in how the fight panned out.

If this were the WWE I would agree, but this is a sport. Just like any other sport, the athlete's compensation should be DIRECTLY proportional to their SKILL. That's just my opinion, i guess for the "growth of the sport" you could argue that entertainment value is important, but I disagree. If skill is valued over entertainment value the sport will grow the way it should. Luckily I think this was a rare, one time thing, but if self proclaimed "freak shows" that get paid twice as much as every other fighter on the card start to become more prevalent, then I fear the future.

Start scouring the country for giants, Pride style.

Its like bringing a cricket team from India, complete with cricket bats and sticking them in your baseball series. Indians will watch, and you will introduce baseball to Indias millions. Big $$$. Except it will never happen because its a sport, not a circus.

Just seems like going backwards in a big way.

It was by all appearances another Brock Lesnar thing, except James Tony is an idiot and didnt take it seriously like Brock did, and it showed.

like I said this sport is still young and not yet driven monetarily by hardcore fans like us beleive it or not we are still the minortity the success of this sport still relies on beer guzzeling meat heads wearing tap out shirts whether we like it or not as time goes on that ballace is slowly shifting and eventually these kind of money draws will no longer be needed but until that day comes we are stuck with this kind of stuff so we might as well enjoy watching dum asses like Tony and Kimbo Slice getting humiliated.

Its the same everywhere. I take my girlfriend to fightnights here and she does her nut every time because people smoke in the venues "there are athletes competing!". Love them or hate them, the liquor soaked meat heads baying for blood keep the sport alive.
